Child Focus wants a “better Internet” for children
As the coordinator in Belgium of World Safer Internet Day, Child Focus does not focus solely on the dangers of the Web for children, and but also wants to remind us of its benefits. This positive message places the emphasis on the digital opportunities for learning, innovation, creation and expression for the youngest users.
It was with this in mind that the Belgian Better Internet Consortium (B-BICO) was founded. The consortium’s aim is to implement services that will help make the Internet a more reliable environment for children who are exposed to it from an increasingly young age.
According to Child Focus, 21% of Belgian children and adolescents have at least two connected devices. 7% of 3 to 5-year-olds have one, although 54% à share the use of one with their parents. In addition, 74% of youngsters between the age of 13 and 16 own their own tablet.
